The Department of Arts of S.S.J. Government Post Graduate College, Syalde plays a vital role in nurturing critical thinking, social awareness, and human values among students. The department comprises six academic disciplines, namely English, Hindi, Sociology, Political Science, Geography, and Economics, which together provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to humanities and social science education. The department is supported by a dedicated team of eight qualified teaching faculty members who are actively engaged in teaching, mentoring, academic counseling, and guiding students in their academic pursuits. In addition, four non-teaching staff members assist in administrative duties and support the smooth functioning of departmental activities.
The Department of Arts offers undergraduate and postgraduate program, including the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees, in accordance with the prescribed university curriculum. These program aim to enhance students’ analytical abilities, communication skills, and understanding of social, political, and economic issues. The department has an approved student intake capacity of 120 students in the B.A. program and 90 students in the M.A. programs.
